Vain glorious and greedy

-This is a English 12 assignment.

"You'll pretend you were men instead of babies, and you'll be played in the movies by Frank Sinatra and John Wayne or some of those other glamorous, war-loving, dirty old men. And war will look just wonderful, so we'll have a lot more of them. And they'll be fought by babies like the babies upstairs" (Slaughter-House-Five, P. 14).

I agree with the above statement in the sense that war movies are promoting men and women to gain an interest in war. Sitting down watching a war movie with the family may seem harmless but in fact the children are thinking how cool it would be to be Abel to fight like they do in the movies. War films are just like advertisements because they are 'brain washing' us into the thought of fighting just as any other adv. is promoting products. You can almost assume that the violence being shown in today's youth is more due to the movies we watch rather than video games.

In response to war movies. Shindlers list is defiantly an anti war movie because the entire time Oskar is helping the Jews from a promising death during the holocaust. Jar head is another war movie, but unlike Shindlers list this movie is more promoting war. Although it is more of a love based movie it is still promoting war. By far one of the worst pro-war movies I've seen is Pearl Harbor. The movie almost glorifies the war being held at that time frame. Okay, last movie review. The pianist. I haven't seen it yet but the review said something about the Warsaw ghetto. The review actually used the phrase 'ghetto'. So it looks worth the rental. This is said to be an anti-war movie.
